Has anyone here used GoDaddy's "Domains by Proxie" services? Are
there any downsides (other than cost, which is less than renting a PO
Box)?

I haven't needed to hide, so I haven't used it. They are quick about killing
spammers who try to hide that way.

I'm not a spammer, nor do I do porn or anything illegal. However, I
don't have an office address (I work out of my home) and don't have a
PO Box. I don't feel like having my home address out there for every
crazy to see.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Godaddy reserves the right to approve of the content of your site regardless
of your policies or your host's policies.
If they feel the content on your site is not appropriate to their TOS, you
lose your domain name.
This includes the fact that you are allowed adult content, but not so with
the TOS of Godaddy.
Read the TOS thoroughly before accepting.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

You might want to call/check a couple of neighboring towns. Some
smaller town Post Offices are classed as "second class service".
(The whole Post Office is this class of service, you don't choose
it as an option). The Offices that are under this designation cost
substantially less. It makes no significant difference in the mail
delivery. As an example, in my town, a small P.O. box is $70/year. In
the town next over, it's $26/year.

A separate P.O. box for your small business is a real asset if you
wish to remain a bit more "private" as you indicated.
