Recently one of my website clients called saying he was
unable to put a file with ftp, 550 access denied.
I logged in and my admin account was also unable to put a
file. I checked the permissions and ALL of my website
directory permissions had changed.
They are set to -xr --r --r "administrator" "none"
I am unable to change any of the permissions. Even if I
log in at the console as admin and change the individual
permissions on the file, I get no response. I can
add/remove users, groups or mod permission via
the "users". Add or remove users from the web directories
but the actual permissions never change.
I am not using virtual ftp - I actual create a user and
then drop that user into a ftpaccess group.
was I hacked? is there some overriding security that is
not allowing me to make changes?
any suggestions appreciated
