apachectl start and ssl.conf

When I start up apache using "apachectl start" (not startssl) I get an error
message saying something is wrong in ssl.conf.

Shouldn't apache be ignoring ssl.conf unless its started with startssl?

If you tell him to ignore it yes. It does what you tell it to do, not
what you wish.
