I have just started using a new font
Silkscreen available from
www.kottke.org
I am trying to use it in my h1 tags using
h1{ font-family: Silkscreen, Splendid, Gospel, Arial;
font-size:280%; font-weight:bold; text-align:center}
in my .css
As I don't know how common it is, I have added the
others as well.
On my system it still appears as Gospel, is there a way to
priorities which font is displayed?
site in question is at,
www.sim64.co.uk

That's not my experience - most folk get their act together sooner or later.

The client browser should use the first font it finds listed, reading
from left to right. You *may* have a typing error in the name of your
fonts, and that is why 'Gospel' is being used.

Thank you for the reply,
Problem now solved
It was my browser settings (IE6), I changed
the encoding to Auto select, and it displays fine
now.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: changing font using .css? |

Still needs a 'standard' font as well at the end though, like sans-serif
/ serif as there maybe people who haven't got Arial installed )
If you expect though, that many people won't have Silkscreen / Splendid
/ Gospel installed, then why try and create a look (on your screen) for
a site, knowing that others aren't going to be seeing that same look
anyway? It's like designing specifically for some uncommon UA, which
shows your site differently to the 'normal' UAs... Could you please
explain your reasoning?

I assume 95% of visitors have Splendid or Gospel,
which are the first two looks I want.(in that order)
I doubt that many have Silkscreen which I have just
obtained.
The reason I put it in there was to show the creator, (if he
visits my site), that I have now got it set up properly, and
are using it<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: changing font using .css? |

Not sure I would go with an assumption like that - perhaps the NG could
give a quick show of hands as to who has Splendid and/or Gospel font's
installed? (Neither for me)
