Hi to all
website #1
I am looking for someone that wants to experiment a little I want
someone to create a website with a secure job board and a resume
board. that can be copied to other sites.
I am not in a big hurry so you can work on this when you have the
spare time.
Now here is the catch I cannot afford to pay more then $300 If I could
I would be more then happy to the only thing I can say is if I make a
profit (at least 2 years out )on this site you will recieve a nice
bonus. for a turn key site.
I only have a domain which I perchased through GoDaaddy.com I have no
hosting yet .

website#2
This one will be a basic web site with a home page, contact page, job
page and a resume page, must be able to have at least 20 member secure
login options.
please let me know the lowest price for this as well.

If I wanted to build and sell a turn-key job site, why wouldn't I do it
for myself? What do you bring to the table.

$300 wouldn't even pay to document the requirements for such a site. If
you want someone to do it, you need to pay them. If you don't have the
money, get a loan from your local banker.

How much is a new car? It must have 4 wheels, an engine and electric
door locks.

$300 isn't worth a decent developer's time to talk with you for what you
require. And hoping for a profit to get a bonus? I like my money up
front and put the profit risk on the client.

Become more realistic and bump up your lowest amount to $1000. That
will generate interest from a qualified developer.

See above, there's nothing "basic" about what you want.

And you have no clue...

Maybe you can find someone at a community college who is desperate
enough to take this on--but I doubt it.

To create a job board / cv/resume database site that can compete and has all
the features of your major competitors will cost you at least £100,000 and
take 3-6 months to build.

You will also need to fork out for hardware as those site are very busy,
you'll certainly some load balancing and database replication.

You will of course need to pay someone to look after all of that (~
£50,000/year).

Also to generate the traffic needed to be a competitive site will cost you
at least £1,000,000/year.

I don't think your $300 will go far.

do you seriously think that most web developers have absolutely no
knowledge in business and finance. the $300 would barely cover
gathering the requirements

most definitely sounds like a "for-profit" type of venture....
get real! ..... and some private equity capital! Wink

I love this. I recently had someone ask me for an hourly estimate on a
small web-based too, but refused to give me any details. My response was
similar to yours - Its like taking your car to the mechanic and saying "fix
my car". The mechanic - any mechanic - will say "What's wrong with it?"
He can't fix it without knowing what you think needs to be fixed.

The same thing goes for creating a new web site.
Do you have graphics? A logo? An idea?
Are you the kind of person who can clearly describe what you need?
Are you writing your own content?
What sort of content needs to go on the site?
How much content will there be?
Is this a purely promotional/ brochureware site, or an e-commerce site?

Like you said, how much is a new car? Do you want a Bugatti or a Yugo? Plan
accordingly.

I hate to follow up on my own post, but I have a correction:

Become more realistic and bump up your lowest amount to $10,000. That
will generate interest from a qualified developer.

I think he may be able to find pre-made scripts etc.
But of course, to compete requires every state
og marketing + website is 100% (+ some) done.
