Post subject: iis 6.0 application pool identity
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

Hi all, I am trying to configure an application pool's identity as a domain
user account. I setup the domain user account in the DC. I gave it the
following privileges under Domain Security Policy:

Access This Computer From The Network
Allow Logon Locally
Allow Logon as a Batch Job
Allow Logon as a Service
Impersonate a client after authentication
Replace a Process Level Token
Generate Security Audits

I restarted the IIS Member server and still the application pool will not
load. I am getting the following error in the event log:-

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: W3SVC
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1009
Date: 19-Mar-2004
Time: 3:32:07 AM
User: N/A
Computer: SYMPHTESTAPP3
Description:
A process serving application pool 'Symphony' terminated unexpectedly. The
process id was '936'. The process exit code was '0xffffffff'.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Any ideas??

TIA!

Place the domain user account into the IIS_WPG group on the webserver.

Thanks.

Cheers

Does it have to be in the IIS_WPG group on the webserver? What permissions
am I missing? I was wondering if there is a way to do it without having to
place the domain account in the local IIS_WPG group. In a server farm it
could be cumbersome especially when adding a new server.

thanks!
