Howdy Mikey,
Try the biz.ecommerce and biz.marketplace.web-design newsgroups. They cover
things internationally.
Hit <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://bizynet.com/BIZyCart/BIZyCart.asp?GROUP=Cards&CLIENT=BIZynet" target="_blank">http://bizynet.com/BIZyCart/BIZyCart.asp?GROUP=Cards&CLIENT=BIZynet</a> for
some suggested Merchant Card providers.
Thanks, Chris <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.bizynet.com" target="_blank">www.bizynet.com</a> and <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.bizycart.com" target="_blank">www.bizycart.com</a>

Thanks for your advice guys. Actually I'll rephrase my question as it
wasn't really accurate enough. I'm in the UK, and already take online
orders via Barclays Business CPI (customer payment interface), as I bank
with Barclay Bank plc. I don't need a 'shopping cart' because I sell only 1
fixed price item (basically customers just click on 'order now' and go to
the https interface). However their system has too much downtime for my
liking - it's just recovering from another breakdown which lasted 19 hours.
So a possible loss of customers again.
Just wondering what my alternative options were and wanting to compare
commission charges etc.

Try secpay or protx. Both reasonably priced.
(About 10p - 20p per transaction)
You'll still need a merchant account with your bank obviously.
(If you want to look at another merchant account, Lloyds cardnet have
been good for me @ 1.6%)

Hi Mikey,
We handle many e-commerce sites in the UK, and who to recommend really
comes down to the unit price of what you are selling, and how many of
those units you sell in a year (or hope to sell!). I can send you on a
spreadsheet that may go some of the way towards helping you if you drop
me a personal mail,
Cheers

yeah protx.com rox - if you do under a fixed price per quarter they charge a
flat montly fee theres no setup and no monthly charges, just a % of sales -
thats as risk free as ive found it. they also pipe into natwest streamline
which not an use the Verified by Visa /Mastercard system which protects the
merchant from fraud - Supercool.
