The dayjob is very supportive of employees wanting to pursue further
education.
A local training company offers several development courses as well as
project management, etc.
I found that they also offer an accessibility course.

I have what I consider to be a medium-to-high level of knowledge of
accessibility as it is.
I'm afraid of blowing my company's money on a waste of time, both in the
cost of the course and the cost of not having me there.

It is an all-day course and covers Section 508 (which is kid stuff compared
to WAI) and covers pretty much line-by-line the Section 508 guidelines.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of training in general (not
for accessibility per se but one-day training of this sort)?

I'm just afraid of spending 9 hours on alt attributes and proper use of
color when my only real weakness is with forms and table axis'.

Have you tried phoning and asking the training company outright? i.e. "How
much time is spent on each topic?"

Nah, that'd be too easy.
Seriously though, the person you reach is a salesperson. They'll tell you
whatever they need to in order to get you to sign up.
