Apache and XML on Linux

I need some help. I HAVE to get XML running with Apache on my Linux box.
I've been running Linux for about 3 years, so I know some stuff, but
nothing very advanced, so the more dumbed-down you can make things, the
better.

I guess basically, I need to know what do I need to do in order to
enable XML on my webserver (Linux). What package(s) do I need to do
install, and the best way to configure them, or where the documentation
for it is.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
