"The World Wide Web Publishing service hung on starting."

I am getting this every time I reboot. I cannot access
IIS with this not functioning. I have to uninstall IIS
and reinstall in order to get IIS to work again. What
should I do? I am running XP.

Thanks.

I figured it out ... DONT USE Zone Labs firewall, it prevents IIS from
starting properly.

Nothing special ... no AV(i need one), firewall is in
router, although sometimes I have used ZoneLabs
firewall. I had a brownout the other day, maybe it
corrupted my registry.

Everytime I reboot the system hangs for about 40 seconds
and when i check the event log it gives me this:

"
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7022
Date: 10/22/2003
Time: 9:45:39 AM
User: N/A
Computer: WYNNE
Description:
The World Wide Web Publishing service hung on starting.

Hello,

You still suing Zone Alarm ? This is a classic sign of ZA preventing
IIS services from starting properly :

That's not strictly true. Zone Alarm is a bloody good firewall IMHO
and has served e pretty well these past few years. The trick is to
understand how it interacts with IIS and make the best of the
situation.

suing.... slightly different nuance.... Wink
