| My Word-created page has so much junk in it that i don't think i will be able
to take it out - not tomention I don't know HTML so i cant tell what needs to
sstay or go. Would it be better to take out the stuff i want to keep and paste
into into a blank Notepad file? Alot of the HTML cleanup things I am using dont
seem to work.

Depends on what you do with it after Notepad. It won't have any line breaks
or format in an HTML file without HTML code that's not saved in Notepad.

Notepad is ok - try textpad (http://textpad.com) you can configure it to do
sytax highlights and it will open many files at once and all manner of cool
and funky stuff.

I haven't seen 1st Page 2k recommended here in a while - is there a problem
with it? This might be something for the OP to start with. I've been using
it for a couple years. A set of Fireworks - Dreamweaver - Flash - Freehand
that I bought second hand hasn't even been out of the box.

Ive recommended it here regularly, last time this am in another thread.
No known problems as far as I know, (I have been using it since day 1)
except the notorious word wrap reset!<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Word-created HTML docs |

Microsoft offers an add-on for Word 2000 that enables you to generate HTML
with much of the unneeded crap discarded. Check the Word 2000 downloads
page.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Word-created HTML docs |

You're best bet is to take a trip to the library and borrow a
beginner's book on HTML. It's not hard, and you can learn all you need
to get you going in one weekend.
Matt
PS
I shant suggest what you should do with Word....

Yes, you want the "Compact HTML" generator. It generates fairly clean
HTML.
