I typed in the URL http://www.symantec.com and it opened this page
http://www.gotoo.com/treasure/Sym.html

Any ideas?

I thought that companies like symantec had covered these slight variations
in spelling.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Hmmmm....Looks like we've got "Downloader.Tooncom" on our
system.....Slipped right past Norton AV, which gets updated daily.....It
seems to hijack links and redirect them to naughty websites......<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Pesky ants.....I got rid of an ants nest in the garden last summer by
pouring a kettle of boiling water into it.....Do you reckon it will
eradicate these computer ants if I pour a kettle of water into the back of
the PC?......<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I think that's what I did, but it got me suspicious and I checkd my Hosts
file and found all sorts of redirects set up there.....Seems like I've
opened a can of worms here....Literally......All sorts of Exe files are now
being flagged by NAV, but it's doing nothing to repair or fix them......<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Run programs like Ad-Aware or SpyBot on a regular basis. They remove some
pesky programs.

yep - that'll do it.

Also, have you tried pouring a cup of petrol into the nest? Do I need to
remind you that you should seek adult supervision before playing with
matches?

Definitely!

I can 100% assure you that if you do this you will never again suffer from
ants - or any other problems - on that PC.

That sounds like bloody good advice Karim.....I usually scan regularly with
NAV and The Cleaner, but it would appear that there are still areas that
they can't quite cover.....<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
