I apologise if this is a stupid question, but is there a website or
program which would show me how a website would look in different
browsers and with different resolutions? Everything looks fine in IE6
but I do not use any other browsers.

Regards,
Colin

download the browsers. any claims that a program or system can show you
how your site will appear in a particular browser are at best inaccurate
and at worst totally false and misleading.

theres a good chance its broken in modern browsers

The version I have identifies itself as: Lynx Version 2.8.3rel.1

Is there a later version pre-built for Win32 that is at least at R/C
strength?

failing that - what's the new link for (H)elp?

'free live web cam sex chat girls online' is ok of course, but I suspect the
help files may be just a litte more useful.

got it - thanks

I hate hidden navigation - ie6, javascript: off
Opera and Mozilla fare better - the site doesn't appear to try and use a
stylesheet for them.

download server is a trifle slow - slashdot effect in aww?

and that now, after a little frigging about with the config.

Whoopie doo - I got colour coded text ;o)

all the main players have mac/win versions of their browsers but i would
recommend picking up a secondhand mac for about $200 if you wanted to
properly check your sites.

My experience has been that you cannot rely on a Mac version to render
HTML the same way the Win version does consistently.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Basic HTML, CSS and XHTML rendered quite differently on Macs. OSX based
browsers are less of an issue because there are fewer users using more
modern (better) browsers. But between 5%-10% of people are using Macs
(depending on your target audience)... If people in here are often insistent
about not using JavaScript's, they should be very aware of making sure their
pages work on Macs. And that is NOT an easy process if you don't own one...<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

And Linux is different again. "out-of-the-box" popular Linux
distributions come with Netscape, Konqueror and/or Galleon, but more
signifcantly, different fonts to Windows.

It's certainly wothwhile setting up a Linux environment and taking a
look.
