Web Service Extension not shown

when i try to create a asp web-service with c#, the following message appears:
"The Specified Web Server Is Not Running ASP.NET Version 1.1"
i searched the kb, and got to an article that described the solution, namely opening the iis services in the mmc and click web service extension; now the problem is that i have just the icons website and virtual [..] smtp and no web extension;
i am using iis 5.1 and xp prof.;

Hi,

Web Service Extensions is new to IIS 6.0

Try running a cmd prompt:
cd \WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322

aspnet_regiis -i
