Post subject: W3WP.EXE 100% CPU
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

We are running IIS 6.0 on a Windows Server 2003 machine.
Recently, we have been experiencing poor performance on
the website. When I check the Task Manager, I see that
the W3WP.exe process is taking 100% (or close to it) of
CPU all of the time. When I reboot, the process then acts
normally, and the Web Page performs well. However, with
in a very shourt amount of time (hours, sometimes less),
the performance is poor again, and the w3wp.exe process is
at 100%.
Has anyone experienced this? Any suggestions?
Thank you

Most likely a bug in one of the web pages. Try running IISState
(www.iisfaq.com) and we can see if the problem can be isolated.

iisstate -p <pid of w3wp.exe> <enter>
