Post subject: Virtual Hosts on seperate machines?
Archived from groups: alt>apache>configuration (more info?)

Hey Everyone,

Simple question that I've not been able to figure out. I thought this was
possible but now am about to accept it isn't. What I need to do is to set up
a master machine with apache and then route traffic to other apache
webserver based on the domain name called. Something like this:

INTERNAL MACHINES BEHIND NAT:
192.168.111.1 - MASTER APACHE
192.168.111.2 - DOMAIN 1
192.168.111.3 - DOMAIN 2

So let's say that DOMAIN 1 holds everything for www.domain1.com. WHen a
request comes into the master apache server it should find a VHOST entry
that tells it where domain1 is being served from and route traffic to
192.168.111.2. Make sense? Can anyone help?

Anthony

Yes.

Use a proxy server or the Proxy module of Apache. See the documentation
for mod_proxy.
