You add a virtual folder to a virtual site.
Imagine you have two sites running on your computer:
site1.myDomain.com
site2.myDomain.com
and then you add a folder /myFolder to the first site:
site1.myDomain.com/myFolder
The sites are "virtual sites", and the folder (if it's not underneath the
webroot), is a virtual folder.
