Bit of a newbie to IIS in general and have built a new IIS6 box which is ok
at the moment. Can somebody please explain the main difference's between a
virtual folder and a virtual site and their advantages/disadvantages.

Many thanks...

You add a virtual folder to a virtual site.

Imagine you have two sites running on your computer:

site1.myDomain.com
site2.myDomain.com

and then you add a folder /myFolder to the first site:

site1.myDomain.com/myFolder

The sites are "virtual sites", and the folder (if it's not underneath the
webroot), is a virtual folder.

Cheers
