Post subject: Virtual Directory Access Problem
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

Hi,

I've been working on this a few day's and have made no progress...

I set up a website in IIS (5.1?) XP Pro. Put a static HTML page in the wwwroot folder and it works fine from {www.mydomain.ws}

Then I added a virtual directory for WebDAV (named webdav) with read, write and directory browsing capability. I would like access to files when I'm away from home. When I right click on the VD and select browse it displays the files within the folder just fine (under localhost).

When I try to access the folder from the internet {using www.mydomain.ws/webdav} I get a "File Not Found HTTP 404" error.

I don't fully understand the security, so I set everything to anonymous with IIS controlling the password and I'm currently set to administrator. The user is FOX1700\IUSR_FOX1700.

I don't really understand why it works locally and not globally (via internet).

Thanks in advance!!

Thanks for the response.

Yes, my main HTML page is working fine. I just can't seem to access virtual directories. I get a 404 file not found error.

Do any pages resolve from the Internet? Like just a static page at:
