Get paid *well*. To a large degree, your customers think you're worth
what you *tell* them you're worth. I've known of a number of cases
where a company with a fairly good web design from someone who charged
almost nothing, replaced their sites with fairly bad web designs from
someone who stunk, but had the gonads to charge a high price.
Admittedly, the first design wasn't paying off for them - but much of
it is that they couldn't figure out how the website was going to pay
off. If you can put an ad in the paper and have people ring your phone
off the hook wanting to buy, a brochure site will work - but offhand,
I can't think of very many companies like that. If you have to send
out salesmen for face-to-face arm-twisting, the website probably isn't
going to sell much. But it can reduce support costs if you have the
courage to allow users to talk to each other on a bulletin board, an
if you make it easy for people to buy accessories for their Super
Flange 2100 in the middle of the night, the site can accept orders.
Well, maybe there's a spillage of wisdom there. If you figure out what
you want to say, before you say it, you have a better chance of
getting it said.

How come nobody can itemize them?
And why can't fruitflies be one of them?
