wouldn't it so.
next up would be a property wanted section - loads of good propery buzzwords
and geography too. yum yum yumminy.

That is a GREAT tool!!! A million thanks...let me explain why.
I just noticed that my index page is fine but all my other pages return a
406 error. This is not a problem when a browser sees the sites (nobody has
complained aboutnot being able to see the pages) but it seems search engine
spiders might have a problem with this 406 error. That probably explains
why I have a PR4 for the home page but PR0 for all other pages. I thought
it was being Google hadn't updated their PR in a while. The reason might
be something else.
THANKS!!!

I'm pleased you found it useful, which makes me think (a rare occasion
these days!!), is there a faq type page for all these tips and tricks?
I'm thinking of something like Brucies' CSS stuff.....
If not can we get one together (volunteers take one step forward please)

406 Not Acceptable
The resource identified by the request is only capable of generating
response entities which have content characteristics not acceptable
according to the accept headers sent in the request.
Unless it was a HEAD request, the response SHOULD include an entity
containing a list of available entity characteristics and location(s) from
which the user or user agent can choose the one most appropriate. The entity
format is specified by the media type given in the Content-Type header
field. Depending upon the format and the capabilities of the user agent,
selection of the most appropriate choice MAY be performed automatically.
However, this specification does not define any standard for such automatic
selection.
Note: HTTP/1.1 servers are allowed to return responses which are
not acceptable according to the accept headers sent in the
request. In some cases, this may even be preferable to sending a
406 response. User agents are encouraged to inspect the headers of
an incoming response to determine if it is acceptable.
If the response could be unacceptable, a user agent SHOULD temporarily stop
receipt of more data and query the user for a decision on further actions.

WTH is that used for?

Excellent news Charles! SEO is a tricky business, and good results
often take many months, if not years to obtain - especially for
popular searches, or even unpopular searches with fewer more generic
phrases.
The irrelevant results and portal sites have become a plague recently,
and some of our "local" searches have been worse hit than our generics
- example:
fort collins web design
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=fort+collins+website+design" target="_blank">http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=fo...collins</a>
The site developreneurs and yellowsitevisuals are nothing like
relevant, and yellowsite is ridiculously transparent in it's use of
doorways - something that google seemed to have cracked a long time
ago! no more... the results are FAR from perfect, and I personally
think google results are worse now than they were a year ago.
Still - we have kept EXCELLENT position for:
business website design
business web site design
business web design
So I guess we can't complain *too* much - despite the seepage of the
sewage into the local results on google!
Anyway, once again - good work Charles! Keep it up!
regards
Greg Hewitt-Long

Thanks for the feedback owen.
I would be reluctant to remove an acitve listing. This doesn't do anything
for the visitor or the seller.
My current model is showing an acceptable rate of sales. However, I am
thinking of the visitors and spiders, more content would benefit both. So
my thinking is to give more away for free, but still have some added-value
component.
My thinking just now is to make the added-value the extra pics. This is
actually quite simple and uncomplicated:
Free listing, full description, one pic.
Paid listing, full description, six pics.

Free listing, full description, no pic.
Pay less listing, full description, one pics.
Pay more listing, full description, six pics.

Can you add more content?
By making my images into pages with a little bit of text, at a stroke I got
a few hundred more pages listed on Google, each one unique. Casts the net
wider.
What is beef jerky? What's your URL?

example:
1. the browser tries to access an XHTML page[1].
2. the browser accept-header doesn't say it can accept XHTML.
3. server returns a 406 because the server can only send XHTML and the
browser hasn't indicated it is acceptable.
[1] assuming it really is XHTML and not HTML pretending to be XHTML
pretending to be HTML.

Sorry Duende, no - I don't... reason being I moved here in June 2000!
Before that I was working and living in London. I did see a
documentary on extreme weather that featured the 1997 flood here which
killed five.
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://fcgov.com/stormwater/flood-history.php" target="_blank">http://fcgov.com/stormwater/flood-history.php</a>
That does appear to be kind of small though compared to the 1976 flood
which killed 144 I think...
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.coloradoan.com/news/thompson/" target="_blank">http://www.coloradoan.com/news/thompson/</a>
so, no - I don't remember that flood, but I do know of it!

Thank you Greg! Good to hear from you BTW.
I have noticed an increase in portal sites in the results. Quite a pain
sometimes.
Whether there are simply more of them around, or Google's new algorithm is
favouring them, I don't know.
