I recently made separate files for the pictures on my house sales site,
sellyourhouseforfree.com

Previously I just provided a link to the image itself.

With the new method, I populate the title, image alt attribute and a short
description, with the address of the property, preceded by "picture of house
for sale..."

I now come top on Google for "picture of house for sale" and fourth top for
"house sale picture"

"houses for sale" and "house for sale" are the top searches in this sector,
not doing as well there but working on it.

These pages have only recently been picked up by Google, so perhaps this is
a fleeting effect!

Well done that man.....I love that feeling when I see my sites near the top
of the search engine results.....Unfortunaltely, my sites never rank well
for relevant keywords......For example, <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.dohickeys.co.uk" target="_blank">www.dohickeys.co.uk</a> comes in top for
the keywords "Doohickeys desirable devices"......Sounds impressive, but the
keywords are useless in a real world situation.....

I shall raise a glass of black Liffey water to your succes this weekend my
Celtic comrade......

Fifth top for the plural "picture of HOUSES for sale"!

Still page-one for two plurals:

"PICTURES of HOUSES for sale"

We'll see how long it lasts!

odd - do people really just look for houses? I'd have guessed they look for
houses +geography

<h1>House for sale - London</h1>

I'll take a look next week...I usually do pretty well...first stage though
is pick the best bets as keywords...with Doohickeys I'd have thought you
need to target the different types of device...even if there are fewer
searches you'll be getting the customer arriving closer to the point of
sale

let me know by email which are the types of gadget you'd most like to find
customers for and I'll see if I can set you out a plan to get
them...unless I land decent paying work first

Thanks D. I am doing a lot more work on this site now. I have more time to
devote to it. Keep the punters happy, that's all we can do!

Yes and no, I think!

At the time I checked Google adwords and Overture searches, "houses for
sale" was top.

Whether this counts and includes all the "houses for sale" from:

houses for sale in london
houses for sale in texas
houses for sale in boston
houses for sale in florida

I'm not sure.

Or if the search was only "houses for sale", which was my understanding.

That seems like a vague search, but I have noticed some users don't have a
concept of nationwide, never mind worldwide.

Some listers do "24 Aubergine Avenue, Texas". No town, no city.

The finer searches suit me anyway. I am page-one for:

"houses for sale ct"

That's Connecticut for non US people.

Hi Charles,

Well done, however when you feed the page into
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.widexl.com/remote/search-engines/metatag-analyzer.html" target="_blank">http://www.widexl.com/remote/search-engines/metatag-analyzer.html</a>
it doesn't give very encouraging results.

Is this type of analysis relevant?

Thats great.

I also had great success with my beef jerky site. I was number one for
"beef jerky australia" and "beef jerky queensland" and "order beef jerky
online" up until about two weeks ago. Now I am not even on page 1 of these
searches. I think this may be because I am not linked by anyone elses site.
It is very sad and frustrating. Maybe you could offer some ideas on how I
can get it back up there????

Not to me it isn't.

Coming top on Google for that particular search IS relevant.

Sorry, don't have time to check it out just now. The pages in question are
basically images, with a light sprinkling of text. The meta tags are filled
with the address info for the houses. It's a dynamically created page,
can't do much more with it. If it comes top for that particular search, I
CERTAINLY won't want to do anything with it!
