Post subject: Strange Problem using a virtual directory
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

I have IIS 5 and have created a virtual directory to a network area storage
unit that I have on a different subnet. I am using clear text
authentication and this is through the DMZ on my firewall (the IIS box sits
in the DMZ). I can access the virtual directory fine when I reboot the
machine 1 time. After the first successful attempt to access the virtual
directory, I can no longer get past the username/password prompt unless I
either reboot the server or rename the virtual directory and change it back
to the original name.

Any clues?

I believe once authenticated the access token is cached until it is expired.

so, since the NAS unit is not actually part of the domain (it just has a
configuration for being on a workgroup), could this be the problem?

I'm saying IIS cached the user token, not really related to the NAS in
domain / workgroup.
see if this help -
Changing the Default Interval for User Tokens in IIS

It didn't work. I think the NAS box just doesn't work with IIS as a virtual
directory. I'm giving up.

Thanks for the help.
