Post subject: Shopping Cart Suggestion
Archived from groups: alt>ecommerce (more info?)

Hello All-

I know the question "Whats a good shopping cart?" has been asked a
hundred times but I've been through all the posts and haven't found
what I'm looking for. So I am going to be real specific and hopefully
someone will be able to suggest a solution.

I am currently using www. mypaysystems .com (Im using both their
shopping cart and their payment proccessing) but I have outgrown them

Im looking for a cart or a solution that could be integrated into my
existing webpage rather than a "e-commerce site building program". The
way my current cart works is the Add to Cart button of each product
has a unique url that goes to mypaysystems database (which I entered).
That part works great.

I've run into the following limitations, though, with their cart:
No Ability to Add Handling (Crucial due to varied weight of products)
The Continue Shopping button will only go to a designated url - not
back to where they were last
VAT (tax) cannot be calculated - It must be included in price (Not a
big issue as most prices in Ireland include VAT)

My site is http://www.yourfavouriteshop.com so you can see how it is
set up now.

I will probably stay with mypaysystems for my credit card processing
because they accept Euro and pay out Euro, so the solution would just
need to pass the variables from the order page to them.

Is there a simple solution and I am just missing it. I know HTML and
Javascript and would probably be able to figure out most other
solutions. OSCommerce is the most suggested option but I believe (and
may very well be wrong) this would need a major redesign on my part.

If there is a better forum then just let me know

Looking Forward to any advise that can be given,

Jason

Howdy Jason,

What you need is called an Ecommerce Server insted of a shopping cart.

 >Im looking for a cart or a solution that could be integrated into my

With the BIZyCart Ecommerce Server, you can just change the links for your
existing buttons.

 >I've run into the following limitations, though, with their cart:
 >No Ability to Add Handling (Crucial due to varied weight of products)
 >The Continue Shopping button will only go to a designated url - not

BIZyCart can handle up to three sales tax states and a country wide tax.

A percentage of the total sale can be added as a Handling, Setup, or VAT.

The individual product records can also include a flat or percentage
handling fee.

Hit <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://bizycart.com" target="_blank">http://bizycart.com</a> for the complete asset check list.

 >My site is <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.yourfavouriteshop.com" target="_blank">http://www.yourfavouriteshop.com</a> so you can see how it is
 >set up now.

The <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://comfortconcepts.net" target="_blank">http://comfortconcepts.net</a> is somewhat similar to your site but takes
advantage of BIZyCart's templating instead of dozens of individual web
pages. Hit <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.bizynet.biz/Splash.htm" target="_blank">http://www.bizynet.biz/Splash.htm</a> for the demo site. If you try
the policy links at the foot of the About Us page, an extensive policy data
base is included with the BIZyCart setup.

 >I will probably stay with mypaysystems for my credit card processing

BIZyCart's secure E-Mail option would allow you to stay with your current
card processing and save you a chunk of money.

 >Javascript and would probably be able to figure out most other
 >solutions. OSCommerce is the most suggested option but I believe (and
 >may very well be wrong) this would need a major redesign on my part.

Hit <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://bizynet.net/BIZyCart.ASP?GROUP=Manual&CLIENT=Manual" target="_blank">http://bizynet.net/BIZyCart.ASP?GROUP=Manual&CLIENT=Manual</a> and ramble
around the on-line manual a bit. No scripting required. Only text or form
links are needed.

Looks expensive? It's not!!! BIZyCart is included in the $24.95 a month
hosting on BIZynet. The $165.00 setup includes all the help you need to get
integrated and your products into BIZyCart's data base.

Thanks, Chris <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.bizynet.com" target="_blank">www.bizynet.com</a> and <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.bizycart.com" target="_blank">www.bizycart.com</a>

Jason,

I would like to invite you to view our shopping cart solution.
BusyBeeCart.com has all of the features that you have listed and more.
Though you do not have to redesign the look of your site, any change to any
new shopping cart will require changing to the HTML code.

Below is a quick list of some of the features of BZBcart.

1.. An unlimited number of items can be added to a shopping cart at once.
2.. Every item added can have an unlimited number of options added at the
same time.
3.. Every option can have an additional price and weight.
4.. Your customers can save an item for purchase at a later date.
5.. With a quick click of a mouse, your customers can delete an item from
their cart.
6.. Updating the quantity of the items in the customers cart is easy.
7.. Customers no longer have to create an account to check out.
8.. When adding 2 exact same items to the cart, the cart will detect
duplicate items and up the quantity instead of adding each item on separate
lines like most shopping carts will.
9.. The shopping cart is database independent. You can create your product
pages as static HTML pages or they can be created by a database system you
already have.
10.. Any item can have a one time base fee. This is great for items like
t-shirts. You can charge a $10.00 setup fee and then $3.00 for each shirt.
So, if a user orders 2 blue t-shirts, they would be charged $16.00.
11.. Has numerous hot spots so you can integrate with a custom database,
custom payment solution or even a custom shipping solution. This means
upgrading will not be a problem.
12.. Items can have quantity discounts that are a set amount or can be
percentage based.
13.. Users can be redirected after an item is added to the cart. This is a
great feature for upselling.
14.. A powerful export utility that comes with templates for exporting to
an IIF file for easy importing into QuickBooksT.
15.. A quick download of all e-mail addresses of accounts that wish to
receive promotional e-mails from you.
16.. Quickly send e-mails to keep your customer up to date. Great for
notification of order being shipped.
17.. A powerful gift module to allow your clients to assign different
addresses to each item in their shopping cart.
18.. Gift module works hand in hand with the shipping module so you will
not lose money even if you use the real time shipping method.
19.. Special text or even HTML links can be shown on the invoice page
based on what the user has purchased. This is great for purchases of
software that the user can download.
20.. You can mark any item to have the cart not calculate shipping charges
for just that item. This is great for selling gift certificates.

John,
As there are loads of shopping carts available, I can see the problem
of trying to sort it all out (and of course, everyone wants to sell
you their solution).
"Im looking for a cart or a solution that could be integrated into my
existing webpage" - Any reason you couldn't drop your cart into an
iframe within one of your pages?
"If there is a better forum then just let me know" - I am setting up
what I hope (and expect) will be a forum that contains a board for
issues such as yours. Membership is free: http://eSolutionsWork.com
"OSCommerce is the most suggested option but I believe (and
may very well be wrong) this would need a major redesign on my part."
- Right and right: it is a good system; any new cart would likely
cause a redesign.
Yesterday I posted an article @ eSolutionsWork on shopping carts and
it looks at OSCommerce.

http://esolutionswork.com/index.php?module=phpwsbb&PHPWSBB_MAN_OP=view...PWS_MAN

This system is also available as a module that fits various content
management systems (CMS). It's easy to install on a server.

Maybe I'll see you at eSolutionsWork. Good luck!
