I am figuring out securing my site for credit card transactions.
I have the static IP mapped to my domain and I am in the process of getting
an SSL Certificate.
Once I have the secure site configured, how do I make some part of it open
and secure only the part to take credit card info?

It looks like Amazon uses the same URL http://www.amazon.com and
https://www.amazon.com. I don't want to register a sub-domain just to handle
the secure transaction.

Talk to your host about it. They may have a separate secure server - or
they may just have you call to the files via https: in your path.

Howdy Christopher,

SSL certificates are issued to a specific URL. If you try
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="https://amazon.com" target="_blank">https://amazon.com</a> you'll notice a yellow exclamation mark. Amazon trimmed
their costs and only bought a certificate for <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.amazon.com." target="_blank">www.amazon.com.</a>

<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="https://bizycart.com" target="_blank">https://bizycart.com</a> and <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="https://www.bizycart.com" target="_blank">https://www.bizycart.com</a> are covered with separate
certs.

When you install an SSL cert, it will apply to your entire web site. If
most of your links use "www.", make sure that's what you order.

Check your hosting assets. You may have to pay extra to have SSL enabled.
If you are properly hosted, you should be able to install it yourself.

Folks using BIZyCart don't have to worry about paying extra for SSL and it
only goes into action when credit card information is required.

Please don't waste money on Verisign or Thawte. Drop by <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://geotrust.com" target="_blank">http://geotrust.com</a>
and pick up one of their QuickSSL certificates. It will cost less, takes
about fifteen minutes from start to finish, and it works exactly like the
overpriced alternatives.

Thanks, Chris <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.bizynet.com" target="_blank">http://www.bizynet.com</a>
