Post subject: SQL LOGGING----PLEASE HELP
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

I have a number of machines running Windows 2003 Enterprise with IIS 6.0....

I have a SEPERATE Windows 2003 with SQL 2000 SP3a running on it.

I have a SINGLE database to gather the logging information from all of the
IIS 6.0 machines, configured with System DSN using an admin account...

Every so often the websites fail because of the forrlowing error:

IIS ODBC Logging failed to connect to data source IIS_LOGS. Error text is
[[State=28000][Error=18456][Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL
Server]Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Does that account have a matching account on the SQL server?

If your asking about the NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE...then no it is a
built-in (hidden) Windows 2003 account.

As for the other account for that is set-up in the SYSTEN DSN....
Yes........and has SYS admin and DB owner on the SQL server for the Database

The error specifies the Network service account though, so I suspect
the issue is with that account accessing the DSN or SQL server itself.
Except for it being intermittent, which would be puzzling if it really
is a permissions error. Can you pin this occurence to anything
specific, SQL server being unavailable at the time possibly?
