Hi,

After following your advice last week or the week before. I had pretty
fast good results.

Unfortunately my good listing and position seem to have dropped off the
face of the earth.

What could have happened?

From nearly doubling my hit count with your advice and an adwords
campaign I am down to 3 hits today!!

Please help!!

But away, Charles!

I had already suspended it as an experiment to find out how the site
changes were affecting hits but I re enabled it as soon as I saw the
state of today's hits.

give it time...search engine placings go up and down...it isn't a clear
straight line graph, you are looking for an upward trend over months, not
a steady progression over days

Google for instance will shift databases fairly frequently and you'll get
spells of a few days when they are using an older database whilst they
tweak the newer one...best bet is to measure results monthly

You seem to have the answers you need so I'll skip that to gently nudge you
in the direction of news:alt.internet.search-engines where you will find
'SEO Dave' and many other knowledgable SEOs more regularly that here.

Herc,

No the traffic from here is easily identifiable.

I think that all the search engines except for google had picked up the
title change - and Google was definitely giving me more hits than before
I made the changes.

Then Google probably did it's quick spidering of your site which gets you in
for a couple days then you drop out and will be back in there in a few
weeks. At which point your listing will be in there all tyhe time and you
will get spidered regularly.

Hi,

This is normal, you get a freshbot listing which tends to last a few
days and then it vanishes.

Good news is if you got their with freshbot it suggests you'll do as
well or better when your new pages stablise in the database and you
promote your site some more.

Give it a few weeks and you should see improvements, might not be as
good as Freshbots right away (you get a boost for new content), but
over time with promotion (getting links to your site) you can get the
SERPs you want.

Also the SERPs have been changing significantly over the weekend, so
if you'd seen the good results for about a week in a row, it might be
you have a new stable listing and this is just Google doing it's
thing. It should settle down in a few days.

Then you'll know where you stand in the SERPs.

Long term you need links with your keywords in the anchor text. This
includes any links under your control, so if you haven't updated the
entire site you should do so ASAP with your keywords in the anchor
text.
