Archived from groups: biz>ecommerce (more info?)

Recently there has been some controversy over my website. The people
I work with think that the sites look and feel does not accurately
portray to product I am are selling. I was wondering if a few people
could go through and on a scale of 1 to 10, give me an idea of weather
I need to spruce everything up or leave it alone. Basically I need a
little outside input.

10=Don't touch it!

Any feedback is appreciated!

Thanks!

Chuck,

I have taken a look at your web site, and feel that the
technical elements work for me. For example when I search,
results appear. Relevant results also.
What I suggest you also include next to the search box, is a
list of continents or areas in which you have matching
products. I attempted to search for my local area and was
nicely informed that there were no entries for that area. I
tried my state, then my country still to no avail. Perhaps
listing the areas covered here would eliminate the 'how come
you haven't covered my town' feeling that I and maybe others
may get confronted with.

(My mistake, your site says county, not country, but still
take a serious look at the above suggestion)

Who are the people you work with? Do they know about site
analysis and design? If not take their comments with a grain
of salt and work out the success of your site based on sales
and potential client enquires.

I believe your site looks 'slick' enough as a professionally
presented site, and product catalogue. I wouldn't modify the
entire layout or copy. But I would reword a few areas for
readability. I always suggest writing as though you are
talking to a single person. That way in engages the visitor
and makes them feel important, and integral to the business.

I hesitate to give you an overall rating. It is hard to
judge an entire site with a single score. I believe that you
site suits its purpose, if the purpose is to inform
customers of your product range and sell the product.

I hope this helps you out.

I would agree that from the layout (of the opening page at least) it
is not immediately obvious what the site is about.

Especially the map graphic on the opening page is rather weak and
leads the user to think along the lines of Mapquest or other direction
finding service, wheras your service is altogether different.

Hope this helps.
