I'm trying to setup mod_security with Apache 2.0.55. I'm attempting to
build it with apxs, and I get the following error:

"Warning! dlname not found in /usr/libexec/apache/mod_security.la.
Assuming installing a .so rather than a libtool archive.
chmod 755 /usr/libexec/apache/mod_security.so
chmod: cannot access `/usr/libexec/apache/mod_security.so': No such
file or directory
apxs:Error: Command failed with rc=65536
..
"

I've tried building the module with apxs with the -cia directives, and
with -c -i -a -o mod_security.so and still no luck.

I've done a fair amount of searching around, and I've found others
having simliar problems, but I haven't found a resolution to the
problem. I also found a lot of people having this issue compiling php
in with apache, and I didn't see any resolutions to that either. I
tried rebuilding apache, as I found that it was some libtool options
that were setup with the apache setup, no luck still. I built and
installed the latest stable version of GNU libtool, and still same
error, I'm not exactly sure what is going on. I can't figure out why
mod_security.so isn't being built.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong with my setup, or what I
could do to fix this?

I finally found the solution to my problem, and it is related to
libtool. Under my prefix directory for httpd, there is a directory
that contains libtool, in my configuration it is /var/www/build/libtool
I grabbed that latest version of libtool, built and installed it,
but I had never copied, or moved it to /var/www/build/. I copied the
build libtool to /var/www/build and tried again compiling mod_security
and it worked just great!
