Post subject: Problems adding IIS
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

I have Windows 2000 Professional. IIS is not installed. I go to Add/Remove
components and select IIS (by default everything is selected to be installed
under IIS). After I select this and continue I get prompted several times to
insert my SP2 CD. It starts looking for files such as:
FP40EXT.CAB (I found this in my SP4 folder)
CONVLOG.EX_ (I found this in my SP4 folder)
ADMXPROX.DL_ (I found this on my Win2k Pro SP1 CD /i386 folder)
w3cntrs.ini (This is where I get stuck, not on my Win2k CD, not in the SP4
folder, nor anywhere on my hardrive)

My question is ....Is this supposed to happen ? If it is supposed to happen
where can I get these files (hopefully all in one place). Also if it isn't
supposed to happen then how can I get IIS loaded without asking for all of
the extraenous files and without loading it with errors ?

When you go to install, it should ask you for the Service
Pack CD (it should do this only once, not several times
like you said). Insert it and press ok and it will copy
some files. It will then ask to insert the Windows 2000
CD. Insert it and it will copy the rest of the files.
This is the way it is supposed to happen. If this is not
working, you may want to copy the i386 folder of of each
cd and put it on your hard drive. When you are prompted
in the installation, point it to the folders on the hard
drive.

Insert the SP2 CD. Smile

Yes it's supposed to happen. If you don't have the CD available, you
can expand the SP file you download and use that.
