Pro and cons of load balancing with Apache

Hello,

I was thinking of using Apache for Load balancing request between my 2
servers. Has anyone tried it? Should I use another method?

For me,
A HUGE advantage is cost in not purchasing a load balancer or using 2003 IIS
for load balancing.
