I do the same thing, but for some reason, I don't get much spam at it...
Not that I'm complaining! I think that the address confuses the spam
bots.

one when required
nospam at was great until some abstrad signed it up for some spam
lists...I haven't actually used spam at...so that may be next

That's approximately 20 times more than what I am getting after about 2
years. However, there was a period where that same address had about
100/day. Then one day, it just stopped.

I have a hunch (just a hunch) that a lot of spammers do a find replace on
their spamming list to remove "spam"! I've noticed that a lot of people
add the word "spam" to their address with instructions to "remove the spam
to contact me"... of course when your remove the spam from
spam.RemoveThis@example.com you end up with @example.com, which ain't gonna get you
very far ;o)

What works REALLY well for me is to use an autoresponder for my usenet posts
and on my website. The autoresponder tells people that its an
autoresponder...and, if they really want to reach me, to contact me at
(haha...wouldn't you like to know, Mr Spam Bot!). That way, spammers don't
seem to catch on...and real people can still get ahold of me, without having
to do the annoying cut/paste/rearrange dance.

Ah, great minds think alike. I set up my email address as an autoresponder
that sends back the address for a form on my website, that way no one ever
gets my real email address unless I reply to an email!

No, it has always been operational, that's the odd part.
