Hi:

My customer has the weirdest problem. He has a directory under wwwroot
called: wwwroot/WebObjects/test.framework. We able to list the directory when
browsing to the WebObjects directory, but when selecting test.framework we
get:

The page cannot be found
....
HTTP 404 - File not found
Internet Information Services

When removing the "." (period) in test.framework (resulting in
testframework) the directory can be browsed. This only happens on his
machine. I am unable to reproduce it on my local machine.

We are using IIS 5.0 on Windows 2000. What could be the problem?

URLScan with AllowDotInPath set to no.

Hello,

Do you have URLScan installed on this server? This tool can cause this
behavior.

This KB Article explains how to configure URLScan:

Hi:

As Jeff and Kristofer suggested, it had to do with URLScan. The client
computer had it installed and I did not. After installing URLScan I had the
same issue. The I set AllowDotInPath=1 and now it is working again.

Thank you very much.
