Hi there

I'm having a couple of woes with password-protecting various subdirectories
on my server.

<Directory C:/Progra~1/apache~1/apache/htdocs/nagty03/gallery/>
AuthUserFile C:/PROGRA~1/APACHE~1/Apache/passwd/nagty03.txt
AuthName "Email [blah] for password"
AuthType Basic
require valid-user
</Directory>

That's the directive I've got in the httpd.conf file on the server. I've got
it both inside and outside the appropriate NameVirtualHost to correspond
with the domain that folder's accessible from.

Somebody please help!

Thanks in advance,
Khyle

Whoops! Forgot to mention the problem, sorry...

Basically whenever I or anyone else visits the subdirectory specified in the
config file Apache just lets the user see it and doesn't bother to bring up
the basic auth dialog box. I have tried restarting the server twice to see
if that makes any difference but no luck.

Thanks,

Since you specified the directory path using "short" directories, maybe
Apache is looking at LONG directories name. Check the log files.

Thanks Davide

I had to use long directory names in quotes to get it to work. All is good
