Doing me a favour: when you switch to the backup, turn of "HTTP Friendly Errors" in Internet Explorer,
empty your cache and then Copy/Paste the error message you get when you hit the backup server.
Thank you.

| We have a problem that is seriously stumping us. We have
| 2 identical (in configuration) Web Servers both running
| IIS 6.0 on Windows 2003 boxes. They are at different
| sites in the US, and we use one for a warm backup or
| failover solution of the other. On our main server, we
| host web pages 90% of the time with no problems. When we
| do a transfer to the second server and change all of our
| DNS entries, the pages it serves up (asp) will not load on
| the first connect more than half of the time, but in
| almost all situations, when we hit refresh after the first
| failure, the pages come up fine and will work without a
| problem for the whole session. We get 'Cannot find server
| of DNS error.' If you disconnect and wait a few minutes to
| reconnect again, the same issue happens. Any ideas? We
| have tried monitoring the internet traffic and server load
| at failure times and both are negligible.
|
| Thanks.
