Thank you. I have been bringing some other business ventures to an end, and
am looking forward to venturing into Internet Sales.
I own
www.wroughtironpotracks.com, and get Google hits even though I don't
even have a website yet.
I have contacted major manufacturers, Enclume, Calphalon, All-Clad, and
others and have gotten their requirements and terms.
I can set up with some for drop ship, and some I will have to stock
inventory and hope that I will sell the items. (I will go easy on that
angle.)
I also am hooked up with blacksmiths and welders who will make custom items
on a consignment basis.
I now have a wholesale distributing business that allows me to buy at show
special and closeout prices, and get full retail for my kitchen items in my
Ebay store. I am a Power Seller. We are going to the LA Gift Show on
Friday, and then in a week, ASD show in Las Vegas. We have sources at low
prices, and even know agents that go to China that can get us whatever we
want.
We are postured.
What we want to do is just set up a distribution system so that we can sell
items, have the manufacturer drop ship the items, and never even have to
handle the items. On some of the other things, we will have to buy, sell,
and ship, but will only do that on "Home Run" items. (Those things that you
can buy for a few bucks, and sell for a lot.) As an example, I can make a
$300 potrack for $20 in materials and $50 in labor. Having the same thing
landed from China would cost at least half, but I would have to buy many
more. It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to do the math on that one.
It is a test the waters thing. What I am avoiding is what you are
proposing. Layers of people and management. If I can have it as a order
taking / drop shipping system, I can run it from my motorhome as I scour the
midwest and northwest for antique "Home Runs" in my motorhome. I can run it
from the motorhome via cell phone, wifi, and dialups.
It's all just a concept now, but it's coming together.
A website is just a piece of the puzzle. I am always open to new things,
and learning something new. I didn't know what RAM was ten years ago, and
now I do.

The first time I had this idea six years ago, I was
intimidated out by website design and HTML. Not so now. I am looking
forward to the education I am going to get.
But, I will follow the principles of organization and divide up the work
areas and delegate authority.
Life is good.
