I wish to setup a website, possibly using ASP/.NET. My question is,
if I were to use a hosting company that supports ASP/.NET instead of
setting up a webserver of my own, does that mean that all my ASP coded
pages will run using the hosting company's ASP server or do I still
need to install my own on my account?
Like I said, I'm a complete newbie when it comes to setting up a
website. I'm a DB developer by trade, mostly intranet and don't have
much experience in this. Any thoughts, help or suggestions would be
greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for your time and courtesy. >> Stay informed about: Newbie questions about ASP and hosting companies. |

your pages will run on the hosted installation, although you may be well
advised to create a development environment locally on your workstation or
LAN.

Your best interests are served when the dev environment closely matches the
production set-up. If that means dot NET then that is what you must have.
Are you familiar with dot NET?
What are your plans for your web site? Perhaps one of the other server side
environments would be suitable.
