Archived from groups: alt>apache>configuration (more info?)

Dear All,

I have a problem with my Apache 2 Server (Linux machine) which is an NIS
client and the home folders are NFS-mounted file system from Windows server
that runns SFU 3.5.

I have enabled the root access in the NFS share, and I am able to cd the NFS
mouted file system with the root account.

The problem is that the Apache can not publish any files that is located on
the NFS mounted file system.
It works fine with the local files and users, but I got the following error
for the NFS file system

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /~username on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an
ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Could anybody help in solving such problem.

Please include me in your reply

Thanks a lot in advance,

Emad

? why not samba?

It's obviously a problem in permissions. Remember that Apache doesn't
use the root account to serve the files, so every directory have to
be readable and executable by everyone (rwxr-xr-x) and files have to
be readable by everyone (rw-r--r--).
