Post subject: Moving Web Pages to another Site?
Archived from groups: alt>www>webmaster (more info?)

Hi,

I have a few web pages from an existing site that are more relevant to a
new website of mine. I am rebuilding the existing site and building the
new site. My hope is to remove these few pages from the existing site
and add them to the new site. I do get some traffic to these pages from
different search engines. What is the best way to re-direct search
engine traffic for these pages to the related pages on the new site?

Thanks in advance,

Terry

Using a 301, see Google's webmaster pages.

Could anyone give me an example for how to use HTTP 301 for redirection?
I am not sure how to implement this. Say if I move a page permanently
from <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.mywebsite.com/page1.htm" target="_blank">www.mywebsite.com/page1.htm</a> to <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.myotherwebsite.com/page1.htm" target="_blank">www.myotherwebsite.com/page1.htm</a>

Thanks!
