Post subject: Moving Copies of Web Sites
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

I am replacing my current system and want to move my existing web sites that
are on the old machine to the new one (mostly the sites under wwwroot). Can
I just copy those directories to wwwroot on the new box? (seems too easy?)

Hi,

That will only copy the actual files, not the settings? What version of IIS
are you using? I suggest taking a look at the proper IIS Migration Tool for
your version

I think I found the version number: 5.1 (I went to Control Panel/Admin
Tools/IIS and when that opened I looked at Help?about)

Hi,

IIS 5.1, so you're on XP Pro?

If you don't have any complex settings then you will be best off just
copying the files to the new machine. There is no official migration tool
for IIS 5.1. Otherwise, you may want to check out the links in this post:
