Today, I received a package of stuff from one of our suppliers.....It was
new stocks of little things like Tamagotchi keyrings, LED Torch keyrings and
carabina's, and wee keyring clock torches that project the time onto a
wall.....They're the things we give away as a free gift to every
customer....

I opened the package and discovered they've sent us twice as much stuff as
we've actually paid for.....

If you were in our situation, what would you do?......

Me? I'd give 'em a phonecall about it.

You are asking in the wrong place. Call your supplier and ask THEM what
you should do about it.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

If it's a supplier you intend/desire to develop a long and profitable
relationship with, get in touch with them right away and tell them what
happened. For all you know, they might have sent it to you as a
gift/encouragement for more business, but the up-front honesty would
definitely score some brownie points Smile

No dilemma. Treat them the way you'd want them to treat you if you
made a similar mistake. Call them and let them know. The worst that
happens is that they give you a choice between paying or returning the
extras (at their shipping cost, obviously) - in which case you are no
worse off than if you didn't make the mistake. Not only is it the
morally correct thing to do, but it lets them know that you are a good
person to do business with.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Keep it.

Probably more hassle for both parties to do anything about it.

Hey, it's SUPPLIERS we're talking about here! They wouldn't think twice
about making a killing at your expense if they could get away with it!

Generally I find suppliers to be a pain, phoning all the time, sending
reps round, a fucking nuisance, so it's good to get one over on them.

Having said that, the stuff Sam is talking about is ten-a-penny, they
probably just chuck handfuls of them into the boxes.

That was my first thought......They've always been great with us, so chances
are they'll just say "Oh dear, our mistake, you might as well hang onto the
stuff"......

And even if not and you have to pay for the second half too,
still saves the packing/posting costs Wink

I was leaning that way to be honest...... We made a mistake a few months
ago, and sent out two room-to-room TV signal senders to a customer who only
ordered one..... He actually phoned us up and told us about our cock up, and
told us he was so impressed by the first one he'd received that he was going
to buy another one anyway, so he gave us his card details there and then so
we could take payment for it.......

Honesty like that is a rare thing indeed, and the world would be a much
nicer place if tehre was more of it.....

I suppose that's probably a record for the worlds fastest mail order
delivery time.....He received his signal sender a whole day before he
ordered it or paid for it....LOL

Ah, well, there you go: Since the Karmic balance is already tipped in
your favour, you're almost *obligated* to call the supplier and inform
them of the mess-up, just to keep the good Karma going Smile
