When I put this in the head of a page:

<meta http-equiv="expires" content="Thursday, 18-Jan-96 16:26:30 GMT">

Does it apply to the page, or does it cover all of the images on the page as
well?

I know meta tags aren't used like they used to be, so would this even work
anymore?

Thanks...

The tag is telling a search engine that if it wants to put your page
into a database, it will only be alive for that long. It doesn't
actually _do_ anything to the page.

If the page only lives until that date, I would assume that the images
on it would be the same.

Don,

Will Google then think your page is going to disappear and thus yank
it ranking-wise? I want to use the expiration tag to tell people's
browsers to refresh - I don't know how to help my users with their
login difficulties otherwise. But I can't do it if it's going to kill
my Google rank.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Does it mean, then, that the search engine will remove the site from its
database after that date?
I code by hand but I notice that many (all???) of the websites-out-of-a-box
stick this tag in by default.
I've never understood the use of such a tag, and never bothered to
investigate. What is the point of it? I'm confused. (Note: I'm not
"confused of tunbridge wells" - he's a totally different fella.)

This post did not necessarily reflect my opinions. So there.
