Generally speaking, a memory leak will cause a crash, not a hang.
A few recommendations:
1) Install the latest Win2k Service Pack (4) + security updates. This will
update a lot of COM+ dlls.
2) Install the latest MDAC (2.

or 2.7SP1 (www.microsoft.com/data). There
was a known memory leak in 2.7 that was fixed in SP1.
Next time it hangs, run IISState against the process that is hosting your
ASP pages (www.iisfaq.com/iisstate). If you need help reading the log, you
can post it to the newsgroup.
