Hi

I have a couple of machines running XPSP2 and when I install the IIS 6
Manager and try to administer a Web Server I keep getting 'Interface Not
Registered' error messages.

Any Ideas

WindowsXP comes with IIS5.1, it will not support IIS6.0 which only comes
with Windows 2003 Server.

I think you misread my post. I am only installing the Manager not IIS 6. I
want to administer 2003 servers remotely using MMC

I have the same exact issue. XP system with XPSP2. I downloaded the
Microsoft "Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 Manager for Windows
XP" which says it allows an XP system to manage IIS 6.0 running on an
W2K3 Server. When I attempt to connect to the server, I get "Interface
not registered".

In typical Microsoft fashion, there's no explanation, detail, or link
on the Kbase about it. In other words, find the answer on Google or
forget it.

Anyone know what the solution is??

I had the same problem and here's what worked for me. I simply had to
install the IIS 5.1 MMC snapin in Windows XP. For some reason that
registered the IIS MMC on my system. Then I reinstalled the IIS 6 Manager
and everything worked fine. Evidently you need to have the IIS 5.1
administration tools installed for the IIS 6 Manager to work.
