In my IIS logs, in the cs-uri-stem field I see entries with a long string of characters, followed by an HTTP code of 404. The method is always search.

Does anyone know what this is?

Hello,

It is probably a WebDAV attack. If you are up-to-date, you have nothing to
worry about.
