Just a quick question, is there any special steps that have to be followed
before posting a link to another webpage?

These are links to the homepages of other sites (no links to sub-pages that
avoid warnings, etc.).

No e-commerce is involved in either our or any site links posted, simply for
quick reference for anyone who may visit our site to our business
associates.

Is any proper "etiquette" involved? Such as getting permission first, or
just simply advising that we are doing so?

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Phil

Phil,

I suggest checking for a usage policy on any site you plan linking just to
make sure there is not a statement about linking without permission. If
there is such a statement, consider sending a formal letter requesting
permission.

Happy linking,

Or consider telling them that they are arrogant bastards who should think
themselves lucky that you even thought about linking to them.

I wonder if such sites require contact from Google requesting permission to
link them??

Personally I don't know of any such sites, but working on the ususal
loony:decent-bloke ratio, there will no doubt be one or two out there.
