I've used 100% for many years, but lately I've been trying out setting
max-width:40em (or 45, or 50), and liked the results. Ignored by IE, of
course. Opinions?<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Depends on the clients needs, most recent was for 800 pixels across, which
will work on all resolutions greater and be ok on smaller resolutions, there
are problems with every approach, from a designer / developer / usability /
accessibility point of view...

I do it if there's a lot of important body text, though I've been setting
60em...maybe I should bring that down a tad...though so far it only helps
those of use using a sensible browser
