Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

When I go through the proceedure for installing IIS from
the Add/Remove Windows Components the Wizard informs me
that this has been successful and the IIS box is now
checked. However, IIS does not appear in the Computer
Management under the Service and Applications Node. I also
cannot remove IIS as the machine freezes.

Try uninstall IIS in safte mode.
then remove files and folders at
%windir%system32/inetsvr/
\inetpub\
%windir%/iisx.log

reboot and reinstall again. if again same
error, check out the IISx.log - (x=5 for w2k, 6 for XP)
search for fail entry.
