Post subject: IUSR and IWAM problems, synciwam.vbs doesn't work

I have a Windows 2000 Server running IIS 5, and after a failed attempt at
running the FrontPage Extensions all hell broke loose. The long and the
short of it is that the IUSR and IWAM users lost their priveldges to run
anything above and beyond basic html sites, (Cold Fusion, ASP, etc). The
error logs reported: "The server was unable to logon the Windows NT account
'IUSR_MYSERVER' due to the following error: Logon failure: user not allowed
to log on to this computer. The data is the error code. "
After a quick search, I found the "solution" which involved syncing the
supposedly out-of-sync COM+ and IWAM username .. which I tried,
unsuccessfully with an error message of "Error 80110414" which I also
pursued on google and found the microsoft knowledge base article. The
Synciwam only worked if I temporarily added the IUSR and IWAM users to the
Administrators group.. and all worked.. but obviously I do not want to use
this as a permanent solution... has anyone else run across this, and if so,
how to fix?
Again, I've found and followed Microsoft Knowledge Base articles 255770 and
269367.

Did that as well, and re-ran synciwam.vbs, still no luck... error logs are
of no help.

For anyone's information, the solution to this problem was simply
re-installing SP4.. worked like a charm afterwards.
