Post subject: second IP addresses not visualy in IIS 6 ;(..
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>inetserver>iis (more info?)

Hi,

We have acquired an extra IP address for our existing - and functioning -
webserver running Windows 2003 with IIS 6.

The new IP address has been added into the TCP/IP protocol configuration of
the netwerk adapter, and is also displayed with "ipconfig /all" in a dos
window.

However, when we create a new site in the IIS 6 manager, and want to select
the IP address the new address is not shown. We have ofcourse restarted the
server (complete reboot) but that had no effect.

We've already searched some forums and the MS Knowledge Base but without any
luck. We hope posting in this forum may bring us the answer.

Please help!

Did you explicitly configure IIS6 to listen to only a single IP address on
the machine (using a tool called HTTPCFG.EXE, available in
Support\Tools\support.cab ) ? You have have used this tool in the past to
disable socket pooling or if WindowsMedia Server was installed.

Reason I ask is because IIS6 will automatically make those extra IP
available for selection by default-- I have had machines with multiple
network cards and always had them show up... unless I used HTTPCFG to set up
only one IP address. Once I did that, I could never use any other IP even
if the network card was recognized by the system -- until I also add those
IP to the "listen list".
