I am looking for anyone who has had similiar experiences to help solve
this perplexing problem.
Running IIS 5 and using asp.net to run the site(W2k SP4). The site
runs for days, weeks but usually never much long than a month or so at
a time. Usually, when the site stops vending pages, IIS is still
running. There seems to be no anomolies in performance either by
looking real time or by using the performance monitor. When the site
fails to respond a recycling of IIS cures the problem. Any help or
ideas would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Stephen

"stops vending pages..."? Ok, any errors? That maybe
helpful...look in the event log, IIS log or anything the
user receives...can you run a plain old .html page when
the site stops?

Hi Stephen,

I'd suggest you check the event viewer to find any related error message
about this issue. It will be appreciated that you tell me all that.

There are no event log errors if the service does not shut down. That
is why it is hard to diagnose. If IIS does shut down, the event log
just states that IIS has shut down, no useful error messages. The only
other wrinkle I would like to add is that we are running a credit card
component com object as well as an ISAPI filter on the web site. We
always have been.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Hi Stephen,

Thank you for replying and the detailed information!

Bsaed on my experience, there will be some reasons to cause this issue. I'd
suggest you can use the IISstate tool to troubleshoot this issue whose
latest version is 3.2. You can obtain the latest version from iisfaq.com.
Please go to:
http://www.iisfaq.com/default.aspx?View=P197&P=1

If your IIS stops response, yuo can use the IISstate to catch all the
memory information which will help you a lot to find the culprit. You can
post the log in the newsgroup so that we can help you to locate the
problem. Furthermore, the readme.txt with IISstate3.2 will help you a lot
on the usage.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for using Microsoft NewsGroup!
